13 July 2005

TIE PROJECTS CONTINUE ON SCHEDULE!!

The tie crews on both properties have already installed over 90,000 ties.  This is nearly 50% of the 185,000 ties now allocated for the 2005 production season.  These ties are still scheduled to be installed with 3 railroad crews and one contractor by the end of October.

¨       The DM&E West tie gang, (foreman Jim Nemec), has so far this year completed tie projects on the Crawford, lower Black Hills and the west end of the PRC.  They will complete a project near Belle Fourche later this month and then will finish out the year on two PRC projects near Wall and Van Metre to complete this crew’s 26,000 tie production season.

¨       The DM&E east tie gang (foreman Kim Camp) continues to improve on their production as they progress through their third project of the year near New Ulm.  Already completed are projects on the Hartland and Waseca subs and this crew will complete their nearly 35,000 tie year on the Tracy sub by the middle of Oct.

¨       Steve Koser’s IC&E tie crew started this year on the double track at Kansas City and has completed the installation of 20,000 ties scheduled for this area.  This crew has nearly 60,000 ties to install this year, plus installing several miles of the CWR in the curve patch program.  We expect this crew to finish up near Clinton on the River sub near the end of October

¨       Contractor LA Colo has installed 10,000 ties on the Owatonna sub, over 7500 ties on the Mason City sub, over 12,500 ties on the Marquette sub and over 20,000 ties on the Chicago sub so far this year.  This crew has 11,000 ties remaining to install on the Chicago sub near Davis Jct and expects to complete this project by July 22nd or earlier.

¨       As of June 11th 2005, nearly 165,000 ties have been delivered and unloaded on the two properties.

¨       The remaining 20,000 ties that are now required to be delivered because of the added capital projects are now expected to be on the property by the end of July.

¨       As of July 13th, over 90,000 ties have already been installed.
