The 2007 capital program got off to a slow start earlier
this month, thanks mainly to mother nature bringing
rain, snow, wind and cold temperatures over both properties. Despite that minor setback, we have been able
to start work on several tie projects with the IC&E tie crew north of
Ties and CWR are still being delivered at this time, but there are no foreseen delays because of any deliveries.
Updates for major projects are below and on the following pages:
¨ The major rail projects for
2007 are as follows:
1. Approximately 30 miles of new
115# CWR between Colony,
2. Approximately 23 miles of
new 115# CWR between
3. Approximately 7.5 miles of
new 136# rail through
4. Approximately 23 miles of
new 136# between Sleepy Eye,
5. Approximately 7.5 miles of
new 115# CWR just west of
6. Approximately 7.5 miles of
136# CWR north of
7. Approximately 15 miles of
136# CWR between
8. Approximately 7.5 miles of
new premium 115# and 136# rail for curve replacement on the IC&E’s
¨ The Major tie projects for
2007 are as follows:

¨ Surfacing crews are expected
to surface nearly 900 miles of track and unload 200,000 tons of ballast again
this year. To accomplish this task, we
will utilize eight Company surfacing crews and one contracting crew.
¨ There will again be several
major bridge projects worth noting on both properties in 2007. The most notable will be bridges # 303, 308
and 313 on the Black Hills sub and Bridge 1846 on the PRC sub of the DM&E
and the Truman bridge and Bridge R64,
