System-Wide
Monthly Update #6
13 June 2007
The 2007 capital work got off to a slow start due to Mother Nature bringing a variety of wind, rain, snow and cold weather for much of April and early May. However, the severe weather has moderated allowing crews to make excellent progress in several areas.
As an example, well over 50 miles of CWR has already been installed out of the nearly 130 miles that will be installed in 2007. Along with the rail there have been more than 20 of the 76 turnouts installed already in 2007 by various crews. More updates on rail and turnouts on the “Rail” page.
Also, there have been over 75,000 ties installed by company and contract crews out of the total of 185,000 thus far in 2007. Details of projects completed and underway are on the “Tie” page.
Surfacing crews have surfaced over 100 miles of track already in 2007 of the nearly 900 miles that are scheduled. More updates on the “Surfacing” page.
Bridge crews have also had a busy spring with several bridges under construction, being repaired or completely rebuilt. More updates are available on the “Bridge” page.
