The two Company tie crews and one contractor crew have already installed over 90,000 ties on the two properties on their way to a total installation number of nearly 185,000 ties. More details of all tie projects scheduled for 2007 are below:
¨ The first project on the two properties to be completed was one of nearly 12,000 ties on the IC&E’s Rockford subdivision. This project began in mid April and was completed near the end of the month. It covered the entire subdivision. The LA Colo contracting group installed the ties under the supervision of EIC Dan Borgwardt.
¨ The second project on the two properties to be completed was one of 14,000 ties on the Upper Black Hills Subdivision and in the Rapid City yard limits on the DM&E. These ties were installed by the DM&E tie gang under Foreman Wes Risseeuw’s guidance. This project was completed mid May.
¨ The third project that was completed on the two properties was one of 20,000 ties on the Marquette Subdivision between Dubuque, Iowa and Guttenberg, Iowa. These ties were installed between April and the first week in June by the IC&E crew under Foreman John Thulen. Following this first tie project, the crew then installed new curve rail in several curves and then went on to install ties in the Dubuque, Iowa and Green Island, Iowa sidings before moving forward with their next major tie project south of Nahant, Iowa.
¨ The next project on the two properties scheduled to be completed will be one of 22,000 ties on the upper end of the Marquette Subdivision, between Lansing, Iowa and La Crescent, Minnesota. This project will be done this week, the week of June 11th, and will complete the work this year of our tie contractor LA Colo. John Jangula, who is Section Foreman in New Albin, Iowa, has supervised this effort for the IC&E.
¨ From the Black Hills Subdivision the West DM&E tie gang traveled to Pierre, South Dakota where they began installing ties from Pierre South Dakota headed west toward Midland, South Dakota. This 20,000 tie project is scheduled to take about 6 weeks, at which time the crew will travel to the IC&E to install nearly 40,000 ties on the Jackson, Owatonna and Mason City subs
¨ When the ties on the upper end of the IC&E are installed, the DM&E crew will load up their equipment and head to Huron, South Dakota and Waseca, Minnesota to install 3,000 ties in yard tracks at each location. This effort is scheduled to for late summer.
¨ Once the yard ties are installed, the DM&E tie crew will head back to the Black Hills sub where they will install 11,000 ties south Rapid between Hermosa and Smithwick.
¨ When John Thulen’s tie crew has completed their siding work, they will travel to Davenport where they are scheduled to install 12,000 ties between Nahant yard and Montpelier, Iowa as well as 2,500 yard ties.
¨ From there the IC&E crew will complete their 2007 tie installation year by installing 22,000 ties between Chillicothe, Missouri and Polo, Missouri. The IC&E tie crew is scheduled to complete all of their tie installation by early August and then will install curve rail for the remainder of the 2007 production year.
