bridgework is proceeding on schedule to be completed by November 2004. Span change out is complete on the east end

and Osmose are both continuing between Verdi and Garvin on RRIF bridges.
¨
The
Sioux River Bridge is being worked on by E-80.
Prep work began on March 15th and on April 12th
they started driving piling. This completes the pile driving that is required
for the east end of the bridge. For the
next two months the crew was working on the concrete caps and abutments, which
were poured in place. The first of these concrete caps was poured on Wednesday
May 26th and all of these concrete caps in the east approach span
have been completed. The crew completed
the final touches on the east end of the bridge this week. The crane is moved
to the west side and started pile driving on the west approach span July 27
with 48 of 78 pilings being driven thus far.
This project is on schedule and should be completed by November 2004.
¨
The
ballast tubs deck renewal for Br# 502 at MP 196.7 is in progress, 18 of the 22
ballast tubs were changed-out as of today or most of this bridge deck is
completed. The next step will be to align the steel girders and raise the
bridge.
¨
One
bridge upgrade was started on the PRC this week at MP 532.9 a substantial
amount of work, which will include new deck and stringer chords.
¨ The bridges completed this week were located on the Huron (2 bridges completed between Verdi and Garvin) and Tracy Subs (2 bridges completed between Lamberton and Sanborn).
