ON SCHEDULE
Of
the 146 bridges scheduled to be repaired this year, we are completed with 61 of
them, and 9 more are currently works-in-progress as of August 4th. All
bridgework is proceeding on schedule to be completed by November 2004. Span change out is complete on the east end
of the Sioux River Bridge.

E-80
and Osmose are both continuing between Verdi and Garvin on RRIF bridges.
¨
The
Sioux River Bridge is being worked on by E-80.
Prep work began on March 15th and on April 12th
they started driving piling. This completes the pile driving that is required
for the east end of the bridge. For the
next two months the crew was working on the concrete caps and abutments, which
were poured in place. The first of these concrete caps was poured on Wednesday
May 26th and all of these concrete caps in the east approach span
have been completed, two concrete caps and the abutment on the west approach
are completed as well. The crew
completed the final touches on the east end of the bridge this week. The crane
is moved to the west side and started pile driving on the west approach span
July 27 with 54 of 78 pilings being driven thus far. This project is on schedule and should be completed by November
2004.

The
ballast tubs deck renewal for Br# 502 at MP 196.7 is in progress, all 22
ballast tubs were changed-out this bridge deck is completed. The next step will
be to align the steel girders and raise the bridge that work is in progress and
should be completed within the next two weeks.
¨
One
bridge upgrade was started on the PRC this week at MP 532.9 a substantial
amount of work, which will include new deck and stringer chords.
¨ One bridge was completed this week located on the Huron Sub (between Verdi and Garvin). Another bridge was completed near Cobden.
