Bridges Weekly Update #21

ON SCHEDULE

 

Of the 146 bridges scheduled to be repaired this year, we are completed with 79 of them, and 8 more are currently works-in-progress as of August 25th. All bridgework is proceeding on schedule to be completed by November 2004.   

 

¨       Bridge Repair is continuing between Verdi and Garvin and Sleepy Eye to Tracy on RRIF bridges. Currently only 3 bridges remain to be completed between Huron and Verdi (287.0, 287.3, & 295.5)

¨       The Sioux River Bridge is being worked on by E-80.  Prep work began on March 15th and on April 12th they started driving piling. This week E-80 completed the pile driving that is required for the entire bridge a total of 78 piling have been driven. The crew has completed all of the concrete caps and abutments, which are poured in place. Concrete deck tubs have started to be installed next week.  Three spans have been changed out at this time and the major work should be completed by next week. The only remaining work will be the walkways and other finishing touches. This project is on schedule and should be completed by November 2004.

¨       The ballast tubs deck renewal for Br# 502 at MP 196.7 is complete, all ballast tubs were changed-out and the steel girders have been aligned final touch up work was completed this week on the bridge. This bridge is complete.

¨       One bridge upgrade was started on the PRC at MP 532.9 a substantial amount of work, which will include new deck and stringer chords. This work is still in progress.

¨       The bridges completed this week were located on the Huron (2 bridges completed between Verdi and Garvin), and of course bridge number 502 as well.
