Bridges Weekly Update #22

ON SCHEDULE

 

Of the 146 bridges scheduled to be repaired this year, we are completed with 89 of them, and 9 more are currently works-in-progress as of Sept. 8th. All bridgework is proceeding on schedule to be completed by November 2004.  

 

¨       Bridge Repair is continuing between Verdi and Garvin and Sleepy Eye to Tracy on RRIF bridges.  Currently only 3 bridges remain to be completed between Huron and Verdi (287.0, 287.3, & 295.5)

¨       The Sioux River Bridge is nearing completion worked on by E-80.  Prep work began on March 15th and on April 12th they started driving pilings.  E-80 completed the pile driving that is required for the entire bridge.  A total of 78 piling have been driven.  The crew has completed all of the concrete caps and abutments, which are poured in place. Concrete deck tubs have been completed.  The only remaining work will be the walkways, deck ties on the truss span and other finishing touches.  This project is on schedule and should be completed by November 2004.

¨       The bridge at MP 250.1 in the new Florence connection project was replaced with a large box culvert this week.

¨       The work at Bridge 526, MP 206.2 is underway.  This includes reconstructing the pier under the west approach span and other associated work.

¨       One bridge upgrade was started on the PRC at MP 532.9, a substantial amount of work, which will include new deck and stringer chords. This work is still in progress.

¨       The bridges completed this week were located on the Huron sub (10 bridges completed between Verdi and Garvin).
