September 2004
Calmar CWR completed!!!
IC&E curve rail project now south of Nahant!!
As of September 16 we have installed just over 92 of the roughly 97 track miles to be completed by November 19th. The L A Colo crew completed their portion of this year’s CWR program this week when they finished laying rail at Calmar on Tuesday the 14th. This area has already had ties installed and after final surfacing the speed in this area will be raised to 40 MPH. We expect this entire area to be 100% completed by the end of October. The IC&E CWR curve gang under Steve Koser’s supervision, is expected to finish up on the River sub portion of this year’s project by the end of next week and then will install about 5,000 ties on the River sub before completing the rest of the CWR program on the Kansas City sub.
The final surfacing is being completed on the CWR projects in the Arlington and Cobden areas on the DM&E this week and both of these areas will be raised to 40 MPH by the end of next week. The surfacing, bridge and crossing crews will then concentrate on the Tyler CWR project for the remainder of the year to get this area completed and up to 40 MPH also
¨ All tie, crossing, and
bridgework is complete on the first stretch of CWR between Sleepy Eye and
Springfield. Final surfacing is being
completed this week by Kent Maxon’s surfacing crew.
¨
Chad
Roob’s crossing gang has completed all of the paved crossings on the second
stretch of CWR on the DM&E near Arlington, SD and the Railworks surfacing
crew is making the final pass of surfacing on this area this week.
¨
Mike
Anderson has been overseeing the clean up efforts of rail and otm on the final
stretch of CWR near Tyler and expects to have that completed soon so the tie
installation and final surfacing can be completed. We expect the tie
installation in this area to begin on Friday the 17th and take about
a month and final surfacing should be close behind.
¨
Welding
crews continue to make closure welds and welds in switches on the DM&E and
expect to have all welding done by mid-October
¨
Randy
Parmenter’s crossing gang has been extremely busy installing crossings in the
Calmar CWR area in preparation for the completion of the entire project. Remington Hill’s surfacing crew has been
assisting this effort.
¨
The
clean up effort on the Calmar CWR is just beginning and will be completed in
front of the final surfacing which is scheduled to be completed by the end of
October.
