Surfacing Weekly Update #31

18 November 2004

SURFACING CREWS NEARING COMPLETION OF MAJOR PROJECTS!!!

As of November 18th we have surfaced over the 800 pass miles that we had scheduled to be surfaced this year.  Some of the surfacing crews will continue to surface as long as possible to further improve rough areas on the properties.

There are now 5 surfacing crews still working on the DM&E and 5 surfacing crews on the IC&E.  Of these 10 crews 7 are MOW crews from the two properties and the other 3 are contractors.  The contractors will complete their projects within the next week or two and the MOW crews will continue to surface until mother-nature forces us to quit for the year.

¨       The Railworks and Safetrak surfacing crews completed their projects on the Huron sub over the weekend and both have left the property

¨       The ARB surfacing crew has finished the Tyler CWR and will do some surfacing in the Tracy yard completing their work by Thanksgiving.

¨       Kent Maxon’s crew completed the surfacing on the BN connection track at Florence and will spot surface between Verdi and Lake Preston until freeze up.

¨       Both Earl Ruckdashal’s and Jared Hook’s surfacing crews will continue to work on the PRC sub until freeze up.

¨       Bob Tech’s surfacing crew is working near Colony, WY assisting with the switch and track renewal at that location.

¨       Remington Hill’s crew has finished up surfacing on the Calmar Rail Project and will spot surface other areas of the Mason City sub until freeze up.

¨       Jason Teynor’s crew will work on the Marquette sub for the remainder of the year.

¨       Mike Cherne’s crew continues to work northward on the Kansas City sub.

¨       As of November 18, 2004 over 255,000 tons of ballast has been distributed on both properties.  This is 100% of total amount that we originally forecast to unload this year and the Engineering Department as a whole appreciates the cooperation we have received from both the LG Everist and New Ulm Quarries and the transportation department to get all of this ballast delivered and unloaded.
