Ties
Weekly Update #2
22
April 2004
ON SCHEDULE
To
date, we have installed 15,000 or the 182,000 ties scheduled to be installed by
November 24th 2004. As of
now, it appears we will meet that schedule.
We have made some modifications to the plan by focusing more resources
on the IC&E “exempted” track south of Owatonna, thus taking away some of
the early effort on the DM&E. But basically,
we are on track with the overall program.
¨
All
crews are on schedule
¨
As
of April 22, 2004, 125,000 ties have been delivered.
¨
The
remaining 57,000 ties are scheduled to be here by June 30, 2004
¨
DME
tie gang west of Volga has completed approximately 2.5 miles This was not scheduled to be done until
August, but was moved ahead in the schedule to improve train speeds in the area
for the transportation department.
¨
The
LA Colo tie gang is expected on DME April 30 to install up to 20,000 ties east
of Mankato. This will allow the DM&E east tie gang, under foreman Wes
Rissuew to concentrate his crew’s efforts on the areas between Mankato and
Huron for the entire year.
¨
The
DME West tie gang got off to a two week late for a variety of reasons,
including lack of qualified personnel. But, after training and orientation of
the new employees was completed the crew, under the direction of foreman Jim
Nemec, have been averaging almost 170 ties a day, 20 more than we had budgeted
for this crew.
